| remember the 50s 60s and early 70s, well i dont but ive read about them :) Anyway its was the muscle car era and factory muscle cars usually had several engine choices that ranged from 160-450 hp There were special edition factory cars that ran 12 and 13 second 1/4 mile times straigh from the factory, even a few 11second cars like the 1969 Caldwin Motion Phase III Camaro. In 1969 you could have bought that car for $9330 and it ran a 11.40 at 120 bone friggen stock. The Yenko SC 427 Chevell also ran in the 11s. Remember this is with 1960s technology But when the insurance companies caught on the price to insure these cars went thru the roof and the rising gas costs dident help either. The market died down
